Residential wastewater systems needs to be constructed, installed and maintained according to regulations to prevent sewage from entering ground water or service water. With the regulations the onus is on the homeowner and industry professionals to make sure that the system has been properly installed. Now the legislation requires that an “Approved Person” (AP) files a “Record of Sewerage System”, including the plans, and after they install the system, files a “Letter of Certification” along with a maintenance plan to finalize the system.
That might be a lot to digest but it is critical that before you start any wastewater project that you speak to a Registered Onsite Wastewater Practitioner (ROWP).
